Check out the skyline of Frankfurt.
The bridge over the river Main is called Eisener Steg.
This picture taken from our office shows the so called
Messeturm, one of Frankfurt's famous skycrapers. Its
height is 256m (840 ft). Until 1997 is was the highest office tower in
Europe. The pyramid on top is not accessible because it holds air
condition, heating and cooling systems. Unlike the Maintower (see
below) the Messeturm is not opened to the public. The big tower on
the right side is Frankfurt Marriott Hotel.
This picture taken from the Maintower
shows the Dome (the church spire is currently under repair) and the
Paulskirche (the building with the green roof).
The so called
Hauptwache is in the centre of the town at the main
shopping place Zeil. In the backgound you see the Maintower one of
the tallest skyscrapers of Frankfurt. The platform on the top of the
building of opened to the public.
This picture shows the historical opera of Frankfurt, located at the center.
There is also a new opera building (see the homepage Oper Frankfurt) but it is not as gracious as the historic
one. Check out the homepage
Alte Oper Frankfurt of the historical opera for more.
The next two pictures show the Römer place, not far
from the shopping street Zeil. In the first picture you see
the city hall called Römer. Whenever a German soccer team wins a big
championship -and this sometimes happens- they come here to show the trophy
on the balcony. Why here? Because if you return from another country there is
a big chance that your return flight stops at the huge
Rhein-Main-Airport of Frankfurt.
This is the view of the soccer player when standing on the balcony. Actually,
it is not, because the picture has been taken form the ground level.
